Lewis Center for the Arts’ Program in Theater & Music Theater presents Gaucho: A New Musical

FREEWritten by Princeton senior Aaron Ventresca and collaborator Emma Ventresca, the musical follows a young 19th-century Argentine gaucho named Mateo as he struggles to break free from his family’s dying way of life to become a writer. This new musical can be seen on December 8 & 9 at 8 p.m. and, December 10 at 2 p.m. at Wallace Theater, Lewis Arts complex Princeton University campus.
Gaucho: A New Musicalis set in 19th-century Argentina as the gaucho community of San Antonio de Areco faces growing threats to its traditional way of life from large landowners’ newest technology—barbed wire fencing. With horseback riding and storytelling buffeting under the pressure of progress, a young gaucho named Mateo struggles to break free from his family’s dying cowboy way of life to become a writer. But with some unexpected help, Mateo escapes to the alluring promises of Buenos Aires. Book, music and lyrics by Princeton senior Aaron Ventresca and Emma Ventresca, directed by alumnus and Lecturer in Theater Nico Krell with music direction by guest artist Gia Gan.
