Barbara Postel Art Retrospective To Take Place in New Hope, PA

Show kicks off with Dec. 7 opening reception at New Hope Arts’ A-Space Gallery

New Hope, PA – A retrospective show featuring decades of artwork created by renowned artist Barbara Postel, who lived and worked in Bucks County, PA from 1970 until her death in 2018, will be on exhibit at New Hope Arts’ A-Space Gallery from December 7 – 31, 2022. The public is invited to an opening reception on Weds., Dec. 7 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at 2 Stockton, St., first floor, New Hope PA. Gallery hours are Fri., Sat. and Sun. from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and by appointment.

Barbara left behind a stunning body of acclaimed work – flowing skies, rushing water and vibrant rocks — her visual documentation of an unquenchable passion for a life well-lived. Point Pleasant’s Tohickon Creek and nearby destinations on and around the Delaware River were a never-ending source of inspiration for her paintings, which often focused on the rainbow sparkle of the sun on the water and rocks. Barbara’s stream of life imagery was a direct, spontaneous expression of a sublime spiritual fusion with her subject.

Barbara studied with Henry Hensche at Cape Cod School, Provincetown, Massachusetts; Eric Isenberger and Leon Krol at National Academy School of Fine Arts, New York; Marshall Glasier, Joseph Hirsch, Sidney Dickinson and Morris Kantor at Arts Students League, New York; and at Academie Julian in Paris and San Fernando Academy in Madrid. Barbara was an honors graduate in architectural technology and design from the American Institute of Drafting and studied Physics and Engineering at City College, New York with a state physics award and an academic scholarship. She left a legacy on canvas, and in architecture, sculpture and photography.
