Acclaimed Musicians to Perform Concert Exploring the Multifaceted Concept of "Home"

New Hope, PA – A captivating musical journey awaits audiences as an ensemble of world-class musicians comes together to explore the diverse meanings of “home” through a carefully curated program of contemporary and classical works.
The concert, featuring compositions by Kevin Puts, Jasmine Arielle Barnes, and Antonin Dvořák, will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 3:00pm, at Trinity Church, Solebury, located at 6587 Upper York Rd, Solebury, PA 18963. This thought-provoking performance delves into themes of refuge, belonging, cultural identity, and returning to one’s roots.
Free Open Rehearsal
A free open rehearsal will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 3:30pm at Artyard, 13 Front Street, Frenchtown, NJ. This unique opportunity allows music enthusiasts to witness the artistic process behind this exceptional program.
The Program Includes:
1. “Home” by Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award-winning composer Kevin Puts (b. 1972) – A poignant string quartet portraying the lack of home and the longing for one
2. “Might Call You Art” by Emmy Award-winning composer Jasmine Arielle Barnes (b. 1991) – A four-movement song cycle setting poetry by East Cleveland native King
Weatherspoon to music
– Explores cultural and racial identity through stylistic references to R&B, gospel, and
historically Black college marching band music
3. String Quartet in G Major #13, Opus 106 by Antonin Dvořák (1841-1904)
– Dvořák’s first work composed entirely in his native country after returning home from
the United States

“This program invites listeners to reflect on the many facets of ‘home’ through music,” says Michelle Djokic, artistic director. “The significance of the word “home” can be a place of refuge, or perhaps a search for belonging, or returning to one’s roots. The music in the opening program for the season will explore these many facets.”
