Flemington DIY announces film series featuring contemporary innovative artists, kicking off with The Joy of Life on January 28, 2023
Flemington DIY is proud to present a series of important films from contemporary cinema’s most innovative artists. This series traces experiments in the landscape film. From the diaristic tendencies of New Queer Cinema’s graduate Jenni Olson and enfant terrible Caveh Zahedi to the quietly observational poeticism of Kevin Jerome Everson and Matt McCormick.
The Films:
- January 28: The Joy of Life (2005)
Directed by Jenni Olson – Also showing: “575 Castro St.” and “Blue Diary” - February 11: Erie (2010)
Directed by Kevin Jerome Everson – Also showing: “music from the edge of the allegheny plateau” - March 4: I Don’t Hate Las Vegas Anymore (1994)
Directed by Caveh Zahedi - March 25: The Great Northwest (2010)
Directed by Matt McCormick – Also showing: “The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal”
All screenings begin at 7:30pm and are accompanied by a short film. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. This is the first batch of screenings at the new Flemington DIY, which opened last May. More info can be found at flemingtondiy.org/road-films.
