Future Work Force Wants to Get Creative – An Opportunity for Arts Organizations, Artists and Students!

NEWSROOM POST
:  BUCKS COUNTY, PA

Due to current demand, the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, which oversees the Career Ready Bucks program, seeks arts organizations to send students for volunteer, internship, shadowing opportunities, and more.

(Bucks County, PA) – After much in-field research and focus group data, the Career Ready Bucks program, a division of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, reveals that our future workforce wants careers in the arts! Therefore, Career Ready Bucks is looking for organizations/businesses in the Arts to provide Bucks County students with professional, interactive experiences, helping students to determine their future career paths while increasing awareness of creative career opportunities in our region.

This program allows organizations to select from various ways to interact with students – from internships and volunteer opportunities to job shadowing and guest speakers – allowing students to learn about and experience what could be their future professional path.

More specifically, Career Ready Bucks shared with Arts News Now editor Mandee K. Hammerstein that last spring, several Bucks County high schools participated in a pilot on the Career Ready Bucks website; many students asked to see more arts/cultural opportunities on the Career Ready Bucks website, expressing strong interest in careers within the arts field.

This finding presents an opportunity for artists and arts organizations to have volunteer assistance, while being represented on the Career Ready Bucks website.  For the next steps, interested professionals can register via Career Ready Bucks or contact Kendy Schiffert, Bucks IU Teaching and Learning Specialist, at KSchiffert@BucksIU.org or learn more at careerreadybucks.org
