Middletown Arts Center hosts GSWS 54th Annual Open Juried Art Exhibition

Middletown, NJ – The Middletown Arts Center is hosting the Garden State Watercolor Society (GSWS) 54th Annual Juried Exhibition from April 8 to May 11, 2024. The venue is the Middletown Arts Center (MAC) at 36 Church St, Middletown, New Jersey.
Artist entry was juried by Douglas Wiltraut, Douglas is the current President of the National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic, Inc. He has earned numerous awards and has featured articles in American Artist and The Artist’s Magazine.
His paintings explore the beauty of the passage of time and the effects it has on objects and people.
Artist prizes were also awarded by Mr. Wiltraut. Congratulations to all the award recipients:

The 6th Annual Art Installation in the back hall, entitled “Wish you were here!” The theme is travel postcards, hung in sections by Past, Present and Future. Charming and imaginative, artists illustrate the places they have gone (or wish they had), with handwritten notes to their loved ones in real and imagined ways.
As part of Garden State Arts Weekend, the state-wide celebration of the arts, GSWS is participating in these two events at MAC:
- “Chopped” Painting Live! – Saturday, April 20, 2-4 pm: Watch GSWS artists Clara Sue Beym, Judy Hummer, Jackie Hummer and Kiki Perry will be given several secret ingredients(just like the famous cooking show) that they must use to create one-of-a-kind watercolor paintings.
- Paint Your Own Postcard – Sunday, April 21, 2-4 pm: GSWS is hosting a fun opportunity for artists and art lovers of all ages to create their own postcards. Family-friendly and free.
On closing day, May 11 the Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held from 2:30 to 4pm.
