New York, NY – The Underground Theater (TUT) today announced the launch of an exclusive partnership with crowdfunding technology company INDIECOIN, which will provide the ticketing platform, automated accounting services, NFT collectibles, and future crowdfunding campaigns. This first of its kind partnership in the Northwest will help boost the arts community by guaranteeing that new projects get completed with milestone-distributed funds and secure funding through blockchain automation. This partnership will unlock opportunities for future funders, expanding the pool of potential contributors and breaking the exclusive hold once reserved for a select few in the industry.
TUT’s leadership team, led by the newly appointed Executive Director, Brodrick Ryans, the current Creative Director, Ry Armstrong, and the Managing Director, Lynette Winters, is a testament to the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity. TUT proudly stands as one of the few theaters in the Pacific Northwest with a majority BIPOC and LGBTQ leadership, setting a new standard for the theatrical landscape in our region. TUT’s groundbreaking production Brown Bodies on a Blue Earth, directed by Ryans, marked an unforgettable debut, setting the stage for future thought-provoking, inclusive, and captivating productions.
Ryans is dedicated to bridging the gap between BIPOC culture, creative art forms, and educational theater. “It is our job as artists and educators to help young people tell their stories. This partnership will provide more security and opportunities for the global majority to get their voices heard.” The TUT team believes that the more space we can create at the table, the better. Seattle was once the incubator for developing Broadway shows, and it’s time to revive that tradition.
