NEWSROOM POST: PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

An intimate contemplative arts experience led by Calder Gardens Contemplative Arts Fellow Isha Strasser

Philadelphia, PA – This January, Calder Gardens invites the public to slow down, reflect, and connect with the rhythms of the natural world through its new Moon Alignment Series, a contemplative program inspired by the celestial relationship between the sun and moon. The series begins with Moon Alignment Series: New Moon on Sunday, January 18th from 5:00–6:30 PM and runs through March 2nd, 2026.

The full and new moons occur when the sun and moon align—first in opposition during the full moon, then in conjunction, when they share the same area of the sky. These recurring moments of light and shadow offer unique opportunities to reflect on motion and stillness in relation to our closest celestial neighbors. Designed as a meditative and immersive experience, each Moon Alignment session opens with a brief discussion, followed by a walking meditation, a period of silent meditation, and closing reflections.

The Moon Alignment Series is led by Isha Strasser, Calder Gardens’ Contemplative Arts Fellow, and is intentionally limited to a small group of participants to preserve a sense of intimacy and focus.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for Calder Gardens members. Capacity is limited, and advance registration is encouraged. Participants may select their preferred session date through the online calendar when purchasing tickets.
