Flemington DIY Announces Storytelling Benefit Hosted by Michael Murphy for Oct. 28, 2023

Flemington, NJ – Flemington DIY will hold their storytelling benefit performance, Scared You Didn’t I?, on Saturday, October 28 at 7:00PM, at The Stangl Factory at 50 Stangl Road, Flemington, NJ 08822. The event will be hosted by acclaimed professional storyteller, Michaela Murphy, and will feature spooky Halloween themed stories as well as a raffle.
Other performers include Mike Albo, David Lee White, Joey Novick, and Tracy Rowland, who combined, have been featured in popular storytelling shows like The Moth, Word of Mouth, R!SK, Story Collider, First Person Arts, and many more.
All proceeds from this event go to support Flemington DIY’s mission to provide an inclusive art space that engages the community, inspires social change, and invigorates the economic development of Flemington.
“Income should not be a barrier to participation in the arts,” says Ellen Gallos, DIY Board Member. “Our doors are open to everyone to participate in our events and programs, regardless of how much they can pay. By purchasing a ticket to the benefit, you are supporting that important work and get to enjoy an evening filled with great stories told by the masters with the chance to win fun local prizes.”

Tickets for the benefit are $100 for a ticket at a table and $50 a ticket in general seating. $25 rush tickets will be available one hour prior to the event. Stangl Factory is BYOB and attendees are welcome to bring drinks and cups. Tickets are on sale and available at www.flemingtondiy.org/
About Flemington DIY
(Do It Yourself) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide an inclusive art space that engages the community with the burgeoning local arts scene, inspires social change, and invigorates the economic development of Flemington, New Jersey.
In May 2014, Flemington DIY was founded by a local group of young artists and musicians. With assistance from the Flemington Business Improvement Office, they found a temporary home in the borough-owned 90 Main Building, once a bank, but vacant for years. “The Space,” as it’s become to some, immediately began hosting art shows, concerts, and film screenings. Since then, Flemington DIY has transformed into a flourishing center for community life for all ages, hosting over 600 unique events while sustaining on the generosity of donations, grants, and the Borough of Flemington. In 2022, the organization relocated to a new space in the heart of Stangl’s arts and cultural district.
In May 2022, Flemington DIY reopened their doors after two years and since then has had over 1,000 events, programs, and classes. “After an uncertain 2 years, Flemington DIY lives on – bigger, better, and stronger than ever,” says Jeff Hersch, Co-Founder and Executive Director.
