Awards Presented to 25 Artists at 96th Juried Art Show at Phillips’ Mill Opening Reception

The most prestigious show in the area, the annual Phillips’ Mill exhibition showcases the vibrant artistic community of Bucks County and the River Towns region which submitted over 700 works of art for jurying this year.
New Hope, PA, – Phillips’ Mill welcomed over 400 patrons and accepted artists of its 96th Juried Art Show at its opening reception Friday September 19th at the historic grist mill on River Road. The most prestigious show in the area, the annual Phillips’ Mill exhibition showcases the vibrant artistic community of Bucks County and the River Towns region which submitted over 700 works of art for jurying this year.
Twenty-five artists were recognized for exceptional work including awards for a watercolor, an interior scene, portraiture, a still life, an abstract, paintings in the style of the Pennsylvania Impressionists, and four awards presented to sculptors.
Among the 25 awards presented were the top Patrons’ Awards each with a $1000 prize. The Patrons’ Award for Painting was presented to Sean Mount of Lambertville for his oil painting We are Stardust/The Bat/Like Hadoukening in Lenapehoking; the Patrons’ Award for Drawing, Pastel or Printmaking went to Bill Donnelly of Southampton, PA for Sticks in Snow #2; the Patrons’ Award for Sculpture was won by Murrie Gayman of Hartsville, PA for Assemblage 2. Two special awards were presented this year in memory of longtime Phillips’ Mill Community Association members and past art committee volunteers. The Award for Landscape in Remembrance of Jean Mihich went to Ann Thomas of Stockton, NJ for her oil painting, Haunt of the Sparrow; The Phillips’ Mill Art Committee Award in Memory of Gail Sparrow was presented to Milan Kralik, Jr. of Spinnerstown, PA for his stainless steel sculpture, Amaterasu.

Also featured at the reception were the show’s Honored Artist, Shawn Campbell of Milford, NJ, and Jay McPhillips of Doylestown, whose oil painting “Phillips’ Mill” was selected as this year’s Signature Image.
Exhibiting artists will be on hand to meet and greet guests, discuss their work, answer questions, and share the joy of the show each day the show is open. Nestled on River Road just north of New Hope, the gallery at the historic Phillips’ Mill is open daily 1:00 pm to 5 pm through October 26th and is the perfect destination for art-loving leaf peepers this autumn season. Admission is $6 for adults, $2 for students, free for Phillips’ Mill members and exhibiting artists.
