Hopewell, NJ – Morpeth Contemporary presents In Plain View, a solo exhibition of paintings by Celia Reisman, on view from October 18 through November 9, 2025. A public reception with the artist will be held Saturday, October 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
Known for her distinctive approach to color, form, and the familiar spaces of everyday life, Reisman transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. What first appears as a faithful depiction of a suburban neighborhood or domestic interior unfolds, upon closer look, into an imaginative exploration of rhythm, geometry, and emotional resonance. Drawing from her surroundings, she juxtaposes architecture and nature to create compositions that feel both deeply personal and universally evocative.
A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (BFA) and Yale University (MFA), Reisman began her artistic journey through abstraction before embracing representation — a foundation that continues to inform the structure and movement in her work. She has exhibited widely across the United States and was the recipient of a Purchase Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters Invitational Exhibition. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at major institutions, including a Survey Exhibition at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

In addition to her studio practice, Reisman has taught at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Swarthmore College, and Dartmouth College, sharing her thoughtful approach to visual observation with new generations of artists.
The opening reception on October 18 invites the public to preview the exhibition, meet the artist, and experience Reisman’s evocative use of color and form firsthand. Guests will have the opportunity to engage with the artist and explore the collection in the intimate, light-filled setting of Morpeth Contemporary — one of New Jersey’s premier destinations for contemporary art.
