Hosted by Moms Demand Action, this is a conversation on A Simple Guide to the Second Amendment

Flemington, NJ – Moms Demand Action of Somerset/Hunterdon County invites the community to an evening of thoughtful dialogue. Join us for a special book club event featuring acclaimed author, attorney, podcast host, and the creator of the FBI Active Shooter Program, Katherine Schweit. She will lead a discussion about her book A Simple Guide to the Second Amendment (originally published as How to Talk About Guns with Anyone), the recipient of the Benjamin Franklin Award for its fact- driven and accessible approach to America’s gun conversation.

About the Event:
This event brings together gun owners and non-gun owners alike for an honest and informed discussion about one of the most divisive issues in America. Schweit’s book empowers readers with clarity, not confrontation—creating space for understanding rooted in facts, not fear.

About the Author:
Katherine Schweit is an award-winning author, attorney, and former senior FBI executive who created and led the FBI’s Active Shooter Program. A former FBI agent for 20 years and Chicago prosecutor, she now works with many organizations like the National Center for School Safety and co-founded the Bureau Consortium, a collective of leading industry experts focused on violence prevention.

A TEDx Tulsa speaker (“Finding Our Way Out of America's Gun Culture”) and frequent national media contributor (CNN, MSNBC, PBS, FOX, CBS), Schweit’s expertise bridges law enforcement, journalism, and education. Her book Stop the Killing has earned multiple national awards, and A Simple Guide to the Second Amendment continues to receive praise across the political spectrum for its balanced tone and practical insights.

Endorsements:
“Schweit brings together the information and historical context needed to understand the debate on guns in America from a 360° view but does so with objectivity and balance.” — John Miller, former NYPD Deputy Commissioner

“I cannot tell you the number of times after the shootings that I was asked, ‘What are you going to do?’ and my response always is, ‘What are we going to do.’ This book provides the answer: we all need to work together.” — Frank DeAngelis, Former Columbine High School Principal (1996-2014)

Now based outside Washington D.C., Katherine continues to write, teach, and advocate for a safer, more empowered America.
