Trenton, NJ — Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie invites area music lovers to rock out to the sounds of Joe Zook and Blues Deluxe when the popular blues band takes the stage Saturday, October 2. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the 6:30 to 9 p.m. show. Transformed into a blues club with cafe seating, Trenton City Museum will set the stage for not only great music, but great food and beverages, too, which are included with reservations. Tickets are available for $40 for museum members and $45 for non-members.
A mainstay of the East Coast Blues scene since 1979, Joe Zook & Blues Deluxe has opened for many iconic musicians, including Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy. Joe Zook himself was twice inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. The full band of seven, including a horn section, includes Joe Zook, Guitar & Vocals; Billy Holt, Bass & Vocals; Steve Kaplan, Saxes & Clarinet; Bob “Mose” Marsley, Drums; Don Ober, Keyboards; Dom DeFranco, Saxes. The band’s special brand of hard blues has been a staple of the museum’s almost 50-year history of musical performances by area artists.
Concert goers will find plenty of parking adjacent to the building, located in Cadwalader Park, entered from Parkside Ave. A barrier-free entrance is available. As seating is limited, advance reservations are encouraged via ellarslie.org or by calling 609-989-1191.
Trenton City Museum is housed in Ellarslie Mansion, an 1848 Italianate Villa on the National Historic Register, located in the heart of Trenton’s Cadwalader Park, the leafy park designed by the legendary Frederick Law Olmsted. The historic and gracious building, owned by the City of Trenton, showcases rotating exhibitions of contemporary art along with ongoing and changing history displays that explore Trenton’s industrial and cultural past. It offers many community events and art workshops for all ages. The Trenton Museum Society partners with the City of Trenton to support the museum’s operations and programming and in 2028 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the museum’s location in Ellarslie Mansion.
