Talented Student Artists Honored at Phillips’ Mill

The Mill will be showcasing student artwork from a record 25 schools this year, weekends from January 25 through February 15.

New Hope, PA, – On January 24, thirty high school students were presented awards for outstanding artwork at Phillips’ Mill in New Hope. Best in Show, 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention awards were spotlighted in five categories ––  painting, works on paper, photography, 3-dimensional work, and digital art –– from the more than one hundred works on exhibit representing 25 area high schools. Morris Docktor, prominent portraitist and sculptor, juried the show, which runs on weekends from January 31 to February 15. Admission to see the show is free.

Best in Show was awarded to Ethan Covello from Upper Dublin High School for his painting, Henry VIII, which Docktor described as “Compelling! Evocative expression, strong composition, strong but sensitive use of color.” First place winners include Aleksandra Nieznalska from Pennsbury for her painting, St. Andrew’s Eve; Sloan Miles from Solebury School for Horn Player, a work on paper; Ilya Chaika from Central Bucks South for her sculpture, Northern Lights; Madalyn Antenucci from Central Bucks East for her photograph, Fashion Week; and Jakob Edmund-Marietti from Ewing for his digital work, I Was a Prisoner in Your Skull. In addition, a People’s Choice award, voted on by exhibition attendees, will be announced at the close of the show.
