NEWSROOM POST: PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY
Friday, October 24 at West Windsor High School North.
Princeton, NJ—Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) and the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey present violinist Aubree Oliverson in a PSO BRAVO! Masterclass. Up to five violin students selected through an audition process will receive instruction, constructive critique, and artistic insights from Ms. Oliverson in
front of a listening audience. Observation of the masterclass is free and open to the public, with advance registration through the orchestra’s website. The event takes place on Friday, October 24 at 6:30pm in the theater at West Windsor High School North in Plainsboro.
Masterclasses are opportunities for young, advanced music students to play in front of a professional musician and receive expert feedback and guidance on all aspects of their performance. A typical masterclass is not the same as a concert; each student will play an excerpt from their selected work, and the clinician may choose to focus on a small section, musical technique, presentation, or their performance as a whole. Audience members will learn about the process a professional violinist must undergo to prepare a piece of music for performance, as well as some tips and tricks a professional employs in their own playing.
American violinist Aubree Oliverson is proving to be one of the most compelling artists of her generation. Aubree recently appeared with the Chamber Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall, Utah Symphony, Peace Orchestra Project, and Ridgefield Symphony. Other highlights include performances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra, North Carolina Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Des Moines Symphony, Excelentia Madrid, Slovak Sinfonietta, Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra, and New Haven Symphony, among others. She is committed to performing beloved standards of the repertoire, as well as bringing lesser-known pieces into the spotlight. Aubree has won awards at the Verbier and Aspen Music Festivals, and from the National YoungArts Foundation. She was named as a United States Presidential Scholar in the Arts and as the 2023 Francis Rosen Prize recipient at the Colburn Conservatory. Aubree graduated from the Colburn Music Academy in 2016 and from the Colburn Conservatory in 2023, where she studied with Robert Lipsett. She plays a very fine Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin, on loan from Irene R. Miller through the Beare’s International Violin Society.
On Saturday, October 25 at 7:30pm and Sunday, October 26 at 4pm, Aubree Oliverson performs Antonín Dvořák’s Violin Concerto at Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University on a program with works by Dobrinka Tabakova and Johannes Brahms. Tickets are $40 and up and available by phone at 609-497-0020 or online at princetonsymphony.org.

About The Princeton Symphony Orchestra
The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is a cultural centerpiece of the Princeton community and one of New Jersey’s finest music organizations, a position established through performances of beloved masterworks, innovative music by living composers, and an extensive network of educational programs offered to area students free of charge. Led by Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov, the PSO presents orchestral, pops, and chamber music programs of the highest artistic quality, supported by lectures and related events that supplement the concert experience. Its flagship summer program the Princeton Festival brings an array of performing arts and artists to Princeton during multiple weeks in June. Through PSO BRAVO!, the orchestra produces wide-reaching and impactful education programs in partnership with local schools and arts organizations that culminate in students attending a live orchestral performance. The PSO receives considerable support from the Princeton community and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, regularly garnering NJSCA’s highest honor. Recognition of engaging residencies and concerts has come from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the PSO’s commitment to new music has been acknowledged with an ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming and a Copland Fund Award. The only independent, professional orchestra to make its home in Princeton, the PSO performs at historic Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University.
