Concordia Chamber Players concert weekend tradition of a Free Open Rehearsal event will be held on Friday, November 10th, followed by the Watercolors Concert on Sunday, November 12.

(SOLEBURY, PA) – Concordia Chamber Players “Watercolors” concert will take place this Sunday, November 12, at Trinity Church in Solebury, PA. On Friday, November 10 at 3:30 pm, the public is welcome to a Concordia Chamber Players weekend tradition of a Free Open Rehearsal event being held at the Pearl Buck Room, Bucks County Free Library (150 S Pine St, Doylestown, PA 18901). The open rehearsal allows the community to enjoy meeting the performers while watching and listening as they prepare for the concert the following Sunday.

Artistic Director, Michelle Djokic states: “This exciting and intriguing program will open perfectly with a piano trio arrangement of Vignettes by William Grant Still, known as the “Dean of African-American Composers, in the the warm, acoustic ambiance of Trinity Church in Solebury, PA. Our next work could be receiving its east coast premiere, 200 years after its creation, when we discover the incredibly romantic Sonate Dramatique ‘Titus et Bérénice’ for cello and piano by the French, female composer, Rita Strohl. This composition is the only programmatic work ever written for cello and piano and is inspired by stolen moments from the play Bérénice by Racine (1670). Our program closes with the Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 120 by the great, late Romantic/early French Impressionist composer, Gabriel Fauré. This program will be like opening a box of chocolates, each piece filled with unexpected delights.”

Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 120 – Gabriel Fauré
William Grant Still (1895-1978) was a prolific composer, whose over 200 works include 5 symphonies, 4 ballets and 9 operas. He was the first African American to conduct a U.S. professional symphony orchestra.
Rita Strohl (1865-1941) was a talented French composer and pianist. She entered the Paris Conservatory at the age of 13. She composed several symphonies and piano works.
Gabriel Fauré (1810-85) was a prolific French composer, as well as organist, pianist and teacher. He composed in every branch of chamber music, as well as piano scores and over 100 songs.
