Milford, NJ –Gloria Kosco has been making pottery for over 50 years. She is renowned for her exceptional skills in wheel throwing. Gloria has an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, and continues her studies at The Moravian Tileworks in Doylestown, PA. Gloria has recently joined the newly formed Mudtown, a collective ceramics studio located north of Frenchtown.
Gloria is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and love for ceramics with others. She believes that proper skills enable students to enjoy the process and move forward with their aesthetic intentions.
At Mudtown, Gloria is offering a six-week Wheel Throwing Pottery Class, September 3 through October 8, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, encouraging students to explore their creativity and develop their unique styles. All levels welcome.
This class is for anyone who wishes to delve into the rich history of wheel-thrown pottery. Students will gain experience through hands-on exercises designed to strengthen personal methodology. We will examine how our hands directly affect the clay during the wheel’s spinning. We will identify movements that knock the pot “off center.” You will learn to define and consolidate your movements. Focusing on the upward flow of the clay, you will improve your ability to bring the clay up from the bottom of the pot.
